WIC Breast Pump Program
Healthy Babies, Happy Moms Inc. is proud to be the administrator of the Rhode Island Department of Health WIC Pump Program. If you are a WIC mother living in RI, and returning to work or school, you may be eligible to receive a Medela Lactina double electric breast pump and kit so you can pump while away from your baby. You may keep the pump to use until your baby is one year old. WIC will also provide a pump to WIC mothers with a baby in the NICU that can't receive a hospital grade pump through their insurer. In order to qualify for either of these wonderful benefits, moms must be exclusively breastfeeding, not receiving formula from WIC, and unable to receive an appropriate breast pump through an insurance provider. Please contact your local WIC agency or the WIC State Breastfeeding Coordinator if you are interested in taking part in this program. They will confirm that you are eligible for the program and send us the referral. We will then deliver the pump to your local WIC agency for you to pick up or to the hospital if there is medical necessity. The staff at the agency will teach you how to use it and address any concerns about pumping while away from your baby.
